Cuddalore is an important industrial town located at the east coast of

Fort St. David is an important attraction for tourists in Cuddalore.
This Fort was a strategically important bastion for the British in their
campaign against the French.
The 11th century Nataraja temple at Chidambaram attracts hoards of tourists and pilgrims alike. The temple has towering gopurams with beautiful statues of dancing maidens depicted in Bharatanatyam dance poses. The temple formed a vital pivot around which the dance form of Bharatanatyam evolved into its present form.
Pichavanam, a beautiful Mangrove Forest, covering an area of around 28 Km, has a number of emerald green petite beautiful islands. This exquisite scenic spot is a paradise for botanists, ornithologists and tourists. There are a variety of water sport facilities available here.
Lord Pataleeswarar temple in Thirupathiripuliyur is one of the ancient temples in Tamil Nadu dedicated to Lord Shiva. The shrine is very ancient and has inscriptions dating back to the Chola period.
Thiruvanheendirapuram temple is an ancient shrine worshiping to Lord Vishnu, and one of the 108 Vaishnavite places of worship considered most holy. Srimushnam located 31 Km from Chidambaram is famous for the Vaishnava temple of Bhuvaraha. The temple has some exquisite wall carvings that are a must-see.
Pettai a small port town located at a distance of 25 Km from Chidambaram has the ruins of the Dutch cemetery. It is here that the British defeated Hyder Ali of Mysore. Cuddalore beach is a beautiful palm fringed, golden-sand beach, which is an important attraction for tourists.
