animals like the Nilgiri tahr and lion tailed macaque in these tracts.

The nearest railhead is in Kottayam, near Ernakulam, about 114 km away.

Government and private operated buses run to Vandiperiyar from Kochi & Trivandrum, from where the destination is about 28 km drive.
